So just exactly why is DHS buying up all that ammo?

This ammo buy-up conversation has been swirling in the blogosphere for some time now, but when starts asking the same question, maybe as they say, it’s time for a national conversation.

“As reported elsewhere, some of this purchase order is for hollow-point rounds, forbidden by international law for use in war, along with a frightening amount specialized for snipers. Also reported elsewhere, at the height of the Iraq War the Army was expending less than 6 million rounds a month.  Therefore 1.6 billion rounds would be enough to sustain a hot war for 20+ years.  In America.”

So is DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano arming to put down a citizens’ rebellion should radical gun control pass Congress and/or state legislatures?  Is she preparing to arm a citizens’ national security force as candidate Obama mentioned in a campaign stop in Colorado, July 2, 2008, and which has never been spoken of since. (h/t WND)

“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

Or, is this the way that the Federal Government is enacting its own form of gun control, i.e., if Congress can’t pass legislation banning assault weapons, we’ll buy up the ammunition?

Last week, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) took to the Senate floor for a 13-hour filibuster and electrified conservatives, the media, and even found common ground with some members of the Progressives (a.k.a. Socialists) all because he wanted the answer to a simple question, “can America kill an American on American soil with a drone, simply drop a bomb on a citizen they deem a threat, with no judge or jury or protection under the Constitution?”

Sen. Paul understood the deeper meaning of what drones mean for our civil liberties and the principles of our Constitutional freedoms.  It’s time for a national conversation all right, because gun control won’t stop at assault weapons, it is only the beginning.  I give you the latest from Rep. Jan Schakowsky, (D-IL).

Wake up, America!

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out–
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out–
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out–
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me–and there was no one left to speak for me. — Martin Niemoller

We are closer as a country to these words than we would like to think.
