“President” Clinton channels Truman with “the buck stops here” regarding Benghazi security lapse
All the way from Peru, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been ‘presidentesque” in her statement that she takes responsibility. Per CNN’s account:
“I take responsibility,” Clinton said during a visit to Peru. “I’m in charge of the State Department’s 60,000-plus people all over the world, 275 posts. The president and the vice president wouldn’t be knowledgeable about specific decisions that are made by security professionals. They’re the ones who weigh all of the threats and the risks and the needs and make a considered decision.”
Note the use of the words “security professionals.” A future out.
Then ask yourself, why now? First, we have the VP debate prep with Joe Biden laying the stage: “we did not know they needed more security.” Now we have Clinton falling on her sword on the eve of a crucial Presidential debate (do you smell Bill Clinton in this.) It gives Obama an out so he can accept her statement of responsibility, while leaving Clinton open to take Republican attacks, if Romney falls for it, which I doubt. Clinton, as Secretary of State, should bear responsibility for this debacle, however, one has to ask what were the underlying reasons and orders for denying additional security requests. Were they at the behest of the narcissist in chief for whom Al-Queada was defeated? Was she following a dictum or merely a victim of her own mistakes?
And that leaves us with our president, macho man, Barack Obama.
