Welcome to Political Woman, the pen name of Melanie K. Political Woman’s website was devised to provide commentary, wit and opinion on political issues and current events from a Midwest, moderate, middle-of-the-road point of view. She is a fiscal conservative and believes in less government, free markets, a strong national defense, and personal responsibility. Melanie bases her commentary on either first-hand experience, or through careful research of a subject from both sides of the aisle. While her commentaries are on the serious side, she can also pepper her writing with dry wit and a touch of sarcasm when the occasion is called for.
Melanie hails from the Midwest. She was born and raised in a middle-class family in Chicago, hence, she has those urban, albeit Midwestern values, which people consider either boring and colloquial, or “salt of the earth.” She has worked in both the private and public sectors, and her career has taken her across the globe. She was an expatriate in Moscow, Russia for three years, and then while US-based, worked in Asia and the Middle East.
Politically, Melanie is on the endangered species list in Illinois, as she’s been a life-long Republican. She’s served as an election judge, as well as worked on local, state, and national campaigns. Like our current President, Melanie, also worked part-time as a community organizer, which led to her run for local elective office in her suburb. She defeated an incumbent, and served on the town council for three years. She later served as a political appointee at the USDA in the Bush 41 Administration.
Despite her being a Republican, no one should mistake her for a lock-step partisan. Her views are her own. She contributes commentary and has a standing diary at Redstate.com and has been published in Americanthinker.com, to name a few.
Melanie resides in the Midwest (where else?) and shares her home with two very protective German Shepherds and two very high maintenance Boston Terriers.
All comments are welcome. You can be passionate in your POV, but remember others are reading your words as well, so please be considerate. To contact Melanie, email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
