Today, I watched FBI Director James Comey’s testimony before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. I was impressed with Director Comey’s demeanor, professionalism, and passion as he defended the actions of his organization, and his decision not to recommend criminal charges against Hillary Clinton. He was especially eloquent in his defense of how they FBI approached the decision that was made, and fervently defended his actions.
First reaction, Director Comey has convinced himself of the righteousness of his conclusions and statements. His argument against charging Mrs. Clinton, stressed the “intent to commit” which according to his values was not there, but then intent is not mentioned anywhere in the quoted statute, either. Hillary Clinton, attorney, First Lady, Senator, Secretary of State, and now candidate for President of the United States, apparently did not know or recognize documents, that may or may not have been stamped varying degrees of “classified” or “secret?” Seriously?
In a clearly partisan House Committee hearing, neither side was scoring points and placing heat on Director Comey, until Rep. Will Hurd, R-TX, a former CIA agent, took to the floor, and unleashed on Comey, one of the best Q&A sessions of this Committee hearing.
