Morning Wakeup Call for Monday, March 9: Emailgate on steroids; Trey Gowdy does a John Boehner;
The morning news as seen by Political Woman.
Hillary Clinton channels Richard Nixon
“Follow The Money” is the current headline on Drudge. At least Nixon’s Watergate was over a break-in at Democratic Committee National Headquarters. With Hillary, not only do we have also have potential criminal liability, but we have blatant hypocrisy as well. She’s an advocate on behalf of women and children, yet The New York Times this morning published some of the Foundation’s benefactors, and it’s not pretty. Take this quote:
But the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation has accepted tens of millions of dollars in donations from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Algeria and Brunei — all of which the State Department has faulted over their records on sex discrimination and other human-rights issues.
The department’s 2011 human rights report on Saudi Arabia, the last such yearly review prepared during Mrs. Clinton’s tenure, tersely faulted the kingdom for “a lack of equal rights for women and children,” and said violence against women, human trafficking and gender discrimination, among other abuses, were all “common” there.
Saudi Arabia has been a particularly generous benefactor to the Clinton Foundation, giving at least $10 million since 2001, according to foundation disclosures.
Emailgate is also going international with the Financial Times weighing in on Clinton Inc.’s problem child. I love this quote from the article,
“With the Clintons there is always some cover-up waiting to be unearthed. Nearly a quarter of a century of probes — from Little Rock to Washington — have failed to bring them down.”
Ron Fournier of The National Journal said it best over the weekend:
“I told [Howard Dean], it’d be a heck of a a lot easier for you to convince Hillary Clinton to do the right thing then to try to influence what I write. What I mean by that is she can’t solve this by words… You can’t spin your way out of this, you can’t intimidate your way out of this. You can’t demagogue the media and blame the Republicans your way out of this. This was a problem she created, and I have a lot of respect for the Secretary, it is a problem she can solve…”
Finally, from The Washington Free Beacon, a timeline of the last two years of Hillary. One word, “ugh”.
Richard Nixon was forced to resign from the White House, Hillary will never get there.
Trey Gowdy does a John Boehner
In Andrew McCarthy’s article for The National Review, we learn that Trey Gowdy (R-SC), Chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, told Politico that “he and his committee have known since last summer that Mrs. Clinton conducted business by private e-mail.” Say what? While John Boehner may be inept on the Speaker front, we now have our fire-breathing South Carolina prosecutor, doing his Boehner version on this Committee. Ya know, Trey, you owe the families of those four murdered men in Benghazi the truth, as well as the rest of us Americans. Some day, you may decide to seek the White House. Your actions, or rather inactions, may come back to haunt you. Hillary redux.
