“Was blind, but now I see.” Amazing Grace has yet to find Barack Obama.

The cover of the today’s NY Post says it all.  From the President himself, to his minions in the State Department and the Dept. of Homeland Security, the blindfolds are on, the ear plugs in, and the rest of us Americans can just shut up and go away because we’re too stupid and we “get bitter, cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them.”  Remember that infamous line from then candidate, Barack Obama.  Who knew, that seven years later that comment is so apropos for the world’s current events.

In the past few weeks, since I last wrote a column, a Jordanian pilot was roasted alive, American aid worker, Kayla Mueller, killed, 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians beheaded, and now 45 Iraqi security forces have also met the same fate as the Jordanian pilot.  Meanwhile, Barack Obama is waxing poetic in front of his Muslim Brotherhood pals about the plight of Muslims in America, and refusing to see the evil for who it really is.  Every religion throughout history has had its fanatics.  But as we advance as a civilization, we look back at that history and the context of the times when horrific events occurred.  Supposedly, we’re enlightened today, but yet Stone Age values and Medieval forms of torture still exist.

It is within this environment, that our civilization as we know it, is under direct threat from radical Islam in the form of ISIS, Al-Quaeda, Boko Haram, Al-Nusrah and others in the same league.  The US is led by a President who refuses to identify radical Islam for what it is and the perpetrators for who they are, because our Great Thinker in the White House believes by not doing so, he’s not giving credence of center stage to the threat or the credibility to ISIS that it craves as representative of Islam.  For someone who claims he is not of the Muslim faith, the President is coming across as an awfully preachy  know-it-all on the subject.  And yet, he knows nothing.

It’s not bad enough that our State Department has turned into a lousy version of a screwball comedy, courtesy of Marie Harf (h/t PowerLine) and Jen Psaki, but now we have Jeh Johnson, Secretary at DHS, also worrying about discrimination against Muslims in the United States.  Let’s ask the Yazidis and the Christians in the Middle East to weigh in on discrimination, shall we?

ISIS and its ilk represent a growing existential threat to our civilization.  They are waging a war of ideas against the West and appealing to poor and rich, uneducated and educated alike.  We see that by the numbers of Americans and Europeans who are joining their ranks.  Mix these groups in with some disaffected sociopaths, and you have a recipe for disaster on a catastrophic scale.

As the President continues America’s retreat off the world stage, preferring the golf course to the war room, and appeasement to an all out offensive, one gets the sense that we’re sitting on a ticking time bomb.  What kind and scale of tragedy will have to happen to force this President into action?  Remember, we have approximately 320 Marines at Al-Assad air base in Iraq, only five miles away from ISIS front lines.

For myself, I’m hoping that Amazing Grace is with those Marines.
